David Mentzer AIA has been appointed by the Governor to a five-year term to the Vermont Board of Architects within the Office of Professional Regulation (OPR), a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

The OPR’s public protection mission is to assure competency and ethical practice in more than 50 professions representing 80,000 licensees.

The Board of Architects issues and renews licenses for qualified applicants, investigates and prosecutes complaints, and defines the standards of practice.

David is a licensed Architect and a Senior Associate at Dore + Whittier (D+W), an Architecture and Project Management firm with offices in Burlington, Vermont, and Newburyport, Massachusetts. During his sixteen years at D+W, he has contributed to the design, quality assurance, and code compliance of a variety of public projects – including many award-winners – at the federal, state, and local level.

In 2020, David was awarded AIA Vermont’s inaugural John Dale Thinker and Collaborator Award for which he was noted for his dedication to the profession, his charitable service and community work, and his mentorship to emerging professionals.

D+W is proud to share the news of David’s appointment and is grateful for his valuable contributions to the firm and to the design and construction industry.
