Following on the momentum of a supportive Spring Town Meeting when the construction funding was appropriated, Westwood broke ground on a new Police Station on July 1st.

This Phase 2 of the Westwood Public Safety improvement program is well underway.  After completing the programming and space needs analysis, Dore & Whittier has developed the schematic design for a new 19,116 square foot police station to replace the severely undersized and cramped facility, one third the size of the planned building.

A new access road has been constructed and the new station will occupy open space on the existing site, adjacent to the venerable Town Hall, enabling uninterrupted operation of the police department during construction.  Campus parking and access will be reconfigured. The new building has been oriented and designed to augment the architectural strength and complement the character of the Town Hall, and to broaden the civic flavor of the municipal campus.
