D+W believes it is important for employees to be able to take time away from work by using paid time off (PTO). Vacation and sick days are included in PTO. The length of PTO is granted based on tenure:

  • 0 to 5 years – 15 days per year
  • 6 to 10 years – 20 days per year
  • 11 to 20 years– 25 days per year
  • 20 plus years– 30 days per year

Employees may carry up to 5 days of unused PTO into the following calendar year. PTO for newly hired benefit-eligible employees is prorated based on date of hire.


The firm observes nine holidays per year: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas. Patriot’s Day (3rd Monday in April) is observed in Massachusetts and Bennington Battle Day (August 16 or nearest weekday) is observed in Vermont.


D+W offers an HSA medical plan through Cigna Insurance. HSAs combine a high-deductible health insurance plan with a tax-favored savings account to help pay for qualified health expenses. Unused contributions roll over each year, with interest and/or investment earnings compounded on a tax-free basis.

Premiums: D+W pays 100% of the premium for single coverage and contributes to a portion of the two-person and family coverage premiums. Employees are responsible for paying the difference for these plans. 

Deductible: D+W contributes $1,600 per calendar year toward annual deductibles for participating employees. HSA account deposits are made each pay period. Employees can elect to contribute to their accounts above and beyond D+W’s contribution.


Employees can purchase dental coverage through Northeast Delta Dental. Premium rates vary based on the coverage level selected.


Employees can purchase vision coverage through Unum / Eye Med .  This plan offers discounts on exams and eyewear.


D+W believes in saving for the future and provides a retirement plan where employees can defer pre-tax and/or post-tax dollars through payroll deductions.  In addition to employee contributions D+W is committed to making an annual contribution (3%+ of base salary) to all eligible employee retirement accounts. This is reviewed on an annual basis and is at the discretion of management.


Employees can have pre-tax dollars withdrawn from their paycheck to help pay for eligible dependent care expenses such as daycare, preschool, or other child, elder, or similar dependent care.


D+W provides employer-paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability coverage should an employee become disabled and unable to work. Eligible employees on STD will receive 100% of their base pay up to the first 6 weeks of leave. If employees require additional leave, they will receive 60% of their pay. Maximums apply to both plans.


D+W provides employer-paid Long Term Care coverage should an employee become unable to perform the basic activities of daily living. This base plan consists of a $1,000/month benefit for duration of three years and is guaranteed. Employees have the option of purchasing additional coverage.


D+W provides employer-paid Life Insurance policies at 1x employee annual earnings up to a maximum of $200,000. The firm also provides AD&D policies at 1x employee annual earnings (up to a max of $200,000). Employees have the option of purchasing additional life and accidental death insurance.


Employees have the option of purchasing Pre-Paid Legal Services through payroll deduction. This benefit provides legal services for things such as motor vehicles, trial defense and IRS-related cases as well as provides a 25% discount for other legal services not covered by the membership. Pre-paid legal also provides an identity theft benefit.


D+W covers certain professional membership requirements such as AIA, NCARB and state professional registrations. The firm encourages professional development and, at the discretion of management, may approve job-related education.
